Multi Modal Expressive Arts with Children and Adolescents In Play Therapy

Description: An exploration of rhythm, movement, and sensory motor drawing in play therapy. Participants will experience tools that are body-focused, trauma-informed and primarily non-verbal. Techniques can be used to help play therapists identify behavioral action patterns, ways to express emotions without getting overwhelmed by them and how to help clients move of out of a chaotic pattern into a more structured one. 

 

Learning Objectives

  • Utilize the use of rhythm and movement to assess in a play therapy session 
  • Utilize the basics of guided drawing for emotional regulation in play therapy 
  • Identify interventions based information gained in sensorimotor drawing in play therapy 
  • Discuss interventions based on client’s movement, rhythm, and sensorimotor drawing in play therapy. 

 

Continuing Education:

This workshop meets the qualifications for 2 contact hours of continuing education as required by the Association for Play Therapy (APT). The California Association for Play Therapy (CALAPT) is approved by APT to offer continuing education specific to play therapy (provider # 00-094). CALAPT maintains responsibility for the program.
