Course Description
This presentation will briefly explore the process of Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and the use of CCPT techniques to strengthen and build the relationship between the therapist and the child in order to utilize the relationship as the primary healing factor for children who are experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges. This workshop will combine experiential techniques with connections to the underlying theoretical concepts.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify the tenets of Child Centered Play Therapy
- Identify appropriate play therapy materials for playroom.
- Identify the procedures for limit setting in Child Centered Play Therapy.
Presenter Bio:
Gladys is a Licensed Profession Clinical Counselor who is currently working on her RPT certification. Gladys works for NAS Lemoore as a Clinician providing services to adults, children, and adolescents. She is a volunteer with the Central Valley Chapter of the California Association for Play Therapy.
Instructional Level: Intermediate
Who Should Attend: Social Workers, Marriage, Family & Child Therapists, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors, School Counselors, Students, and Interns.
Continuing Education: This workshop meets the qualifications for 2 non-contact hours of continuing education as required by the Association for Play Therapy (APT). The California Association for Play Therapy (CALAPT) is approved by APT to offer continuing education specific to play therapy (provider # 00-094). CALAPT maintains responsibility for the program. No CE credit available for partial attendance.
